“Here, turn right here, this has got to be it”.

Hmmm looks like a bunch of weeds in a badly tended garden if you ask me…..but hold one we are going to find at least FOUR, yes that’s four, edible goodies in this patch.

Its time for everyone to head their separate ways, full of new knowledge, exceptional food and plenty of beers. I have a glass of Benedictine for the road (fortunately my husband is collecting me) and we waddle off clutching our information packs, happy foragers that we now are.
You can find out more about Food Safari’s days out in Suffolk on their website, arrange gift vouchers for loved ones or simply book a treat for yourself. I’m hoping to try another one of their days soon.

What a wonderful day. Lovely write up.
Oh i am so envious. I wish I was there.
All of it is Brilliant, the weeds, the foraging, the company, the food, the photos and mostly YOU sharing this with us Goodshoeday. Thank you! I still wish I was there though!
Now I need to find out if there is something like Food Safari in the West of Scotland.
What an interesting and educational day you had! Sounds like so much fun. I'm wondering how anybody got in those chairs on the backside of the table! Ha. You're so lucky to live where there are so many foodie opportunities!
Lovely write up, Goodshoeday! So pleased you enjoyed it , and looking forward to hearing about your future forage finds!
Goodshoeday, what a great day out – and an excellent write up. Very interesting. I've never tasted Samphire – Mark Hix mentions it a lot in his recipe book and I want to find out what it tastes like.
It was a wonderful day and the food was divine if you are ever near Walberswick try The Anchor, its a must.
The Ample Cook: foraging is such fun and it was eye opening to learn about things beyond blackberries and sloes!
Mangocheeks: Why not contact Food Safari to see if they know of anyone near you – or better still set up your own in the West of Scotland – I bet there's loads of great produce to be had round you.
Karen: um I think thats my bad photo angle – I sat round that side and there was no difficulty getting in (or out of) the chairs – but I see what you mean!
Jacky: I already got some elderflowers on Sunday – I was determined to – am steeping them in vodka! There were surprisingly few on the coast where we were staying though (air too salty?).
Dan: OMG you've never had samphire. You live near the sea how can that be. I believe there will be lots you could forage at Mersea and Maldon or easier get to the fishmongers in a couple of weeks. Its divine stuff. Don't miss out this season
