The BPRsummit was a great, insightful evening. My colleague and I came down after work and sat listening intently to the bloggers and PRs talk out their differences. As a PR, I see the importance of bloggers and I know that I shouldn't be offering products to people who I wouldn't think have an interest in them. I also know that when I do offer a product and it is accepted, I should not expect it to be written about (good or bad).

Thanks for all your comments.

There were about 80 people there in all pretty equally split between bloggers and PRs.

I think it was the start of a useful debate but there is a long way to go and both bloggers and PRs need to try to understand each other. There are inevitably still going to be unwanted approaches but hopefully common sense will prevail and bloggers will refuse such offers firmly and politely. PR will also learn what works an what doesn't - I have a sense many of them just don't 'get' what bloggers do and why.

Bloggers should only accept 'freebies' they are genuinely interested in - but i think a good PR will will out who's interested in what and also who is basically blagging.

The goodie bag was of a high standard with the following in it (all regular for sale sizes except where I say sample):
Rude Health No Flaming Raisins organic museli (dinky little 1 serving pack) and also Health Puffed Oats (full size pack)
Askinosie ITTY Bar (chocolate - exclusive the Selfridges)
Allens of Mayfair English Smooth Mustard
Seafood and eat it Potted Crab
Thorntons Chocolate Block - I think we all got different ones mine was a dark one with salted macadamia :)
PURETEA - some samples
Speciality Farm Food - we each got a different sample mine was Bali raw Cocoa in Shell
all in a nice Albion (a london deli) canvas shopping bag
I'm saving them all for a weekend blow out!

Thank you for your insights into the Foodie bloggers/PR meet. It is something that I am quite interested in but as I live in Midlands, I was unable to attend. I am still fairly new to blogging and didn't really know there was a debate until recently. I myself have never been offered any freebies yet. I am not in for the freebies. I just want to share my recipes, however if someone did offer me something I would be grateful and accept it. I would also mention it was freebie on my blog as well, as I would hate for people to think I was encouraging to purchase something, just because I had been given it for free. Anyway, that's my thoughts on the subject.

Just out of curiously, what was in your freebie bag?
