I´ve been thinking for already 2 years what to do with the cherry plums and got the idea of chutney just now. So far from the recipes I´ve been looking for, yours seems to be the best. I must say I adore the page as well. I´m glad I found it from google, will return definitely!

Well done. This year was definitely a glut year. You certainly did the right thing getting rid of the pond. Our cherry plums kept falling in the pond, and although I tried to get them out each day, our three 8 year-old goldfish died. Very sad, but all the cherry plum jam and vodka made up for it, and we have 5 more fish, and will net the pond this year.

Alida – the cherry stoner makes all the difference – hope you found more fruit to to do the chutney with. i love chutney

Lauren – Did you find some fruit? the vodka works well with all kinds of fruit and the recipe will work with any kind of plums.

Merlotti – I’ve got some recipes for unripe plums as well which I’m hoping to post this weekend so you could try them sometime. Greengages are bigger than cherry plums – cherry plums really are the size of a cherry. But greengages will work in all the recipes too. Have fun what ever you do with the gages.

All the recipes look great! I’ve got a plum tree butn either they rot on the branches and the maggots get them or I have to pick them an little unripe – i think patience is the key, and i shall wait til they fall now! Can’t wait to try the chutney!

Love your blog and thank you for the great ideas. I have made both the cherry plum vodka and the pickled plums today. I have to go back for more to make the chutney -sounds yummy!

I didn't know there was such a thing as a cherry plum until I started my mission to identify the tree. Now I keep spotting them and other similar trees all over the place. I'm going to check out the mirabelle connection as well.

There were moments when I wondered quite what I was doing and why I was dashing out there to collect more! There was at least one point where I began to think chopping it down might have been a better answer

I'm hoping the results are worth the effort. They look pretty at least. And lots of presents for family and friends.
